Kopren Ecotrail

Located: 6 km away from Kopilovtsi, 36 km from Montana. In Use Since: 1998.

Building:

• 1998 - Building of the ecotrail.
• 1998-1999 - A series of seminars on rural and ecotourism in the region, projects: The Development of Rural and Ecotourism – Steps Toward Success, completed jointly with the Tourism Department of the Sofia University "St Kliment Ohridski," and Revival of the Bulgarian Village Through the Development of Rural and Ecotourism.

BARET Participation: Created the project; built the ecotrail, organized a series of seminars.

Sights: western Stara planina (the Balkan Mountains) below Kopren Peak - a typical mountain landscape.

Nearby Sites: Kopren Peak, the town of Chiprovtsi, Chiprovtsi Monastery, Lopushanski Monastery.

Duration: short tour - 2 hours, medium tour - 5 hours, full tour - 8 hours.

Season: June - October.

	Hiking trip at an altitude of 1000 meters. It would be best to hire an experienced local guide, because the trail is not well maintained, so you risk losing it.
